Bu nedenle engell b reyler n büyük çoğunluğu vakt n evde
geç rmekte ve kent n sosyal ve kültürel hayatından uzak kal-
maktadır. Bu durum hem engell b reyler üzer nde hem de a lede

er şeb leceğ alanda (eve hapsolmadan), sosyal, kültürel, spor-
t f anlamda hem b rb r ler yle hem de kentle l şk kurmalarını
sağlamaktır.
Engels z yaşam proje alanında açık spor alanları, tr bün, engell
parkı, rekreasyon alanları ve merkez b na bulunmaktadır. Merkez
b na yatayda ve düşeyde kolay er ş m sağlanab lmes ç n tek
katta çözümlenm ş, destek b r mler ç n bodrum kat oluşturul-
muştur. Yapı el ps şekl nded r, ortası boşaltılarak güneyde oluş-
turulan avluyla Erc yes manzarası göster lmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu
boşluktan aynı zamanda engell parkına ve spor alanlarına er ş m

f tness salonu, kütüphane, sess z kütüphane, beyaz oda, eğ t m
b r mler , restoran, dar b r mler, atölyeler ve serg salonu bulun-

The life comfort of disabled individuals in our country is quite
low as well as their relationships with the city and with each
other due to the fact that the physical conditions of cities are
not very accessible. Hence, majority of the disabled individuals
spend their times at home thus staying away from the social and
cultural life in the city. This creates problems for both the dis-
abled individuals and their families. Kayseri Metropolitan Munici-
pality allocated an area of about 33.000 m2 across the Erciyes
University Campus within the city limits for the about 35.000
disabled individuals which can be reached easily via public
transportation and where required medical interventions can be
made easily. The objective of the project is to ensure that the
disabled individuals can establish social, cultural and sportive
relationships among themselves and with the city in an acces-
sible area (away from being confined in the house).
The accessible living area project center includes a tribune, a
disabled friendly park, recreational areas and a central building.
The central building is designed as a one floor building for easy
access in both the vertical and horizontal axis and a ground
floor has been established for the support units. The structure is
elliptical, its central area was kept empty in order to ensure that
the Erciyes scenery can be seen from the courtyard. This space
also enables the access of disabled individuals to the park and
sports areas. The central building has a multipurpose hall, a li-
brary, a quiet library, a white room, education units, a restaurant,
administrative units, workshops and an exhibition hall and it is
connected to the courtyard and the other units directly from the
0.00 elevation. The accessible living center aims to provide ca-
reers for disabled individuals via trainings that will be provided
in addition to the socio-cultural activities.
