Proje alanı, mevcut Zonguldak Karaelmas Kemal Köksal Stad-
yumunun bulunduğu arsanın güney bölümünded r. 1940 yılında
stadyum nşa ed ld kten sonra kompleks n güney bölümünde
farklı dönemlerde farklı şlevler çeren b nalar nşa ed lm şt r.
Zamanla bu b nalar hem f z ksel koşulları, hem de şlevlere
cevap verememes neden yle kullanılamaz hale gelm şt r. Yapılan
testlerde depreme karşı dayanım konusunda problemler tesp t
ed l nce, yıkım kararı alınmış ve mevcuttak parçalı b nalar yer ne
şlevler n b rleşt ğ , çağdaş, şletmes kolay, kent ve kentl yle

Zonguldak Karaelmas Kemal Köksal stadium. Dierent buildings
with dierent functions were built at the southern section of
the complex after the stadium was built in 1940. These buildings
became unusable over time due to both their physical condi-
tions and their failure to meet the demands. Demolition decision
was given after it was detected that the building had problems
related with earthquake resistance and thus it was decided to
build a new structure in its place that is modern, easy to man-
age, that can establish better relations with the city and the
citizens in which the functions of all separate buildings are

combined in one. In this regard, plans were made to build an ad-
ministrative building for the Provincial Sports Directorate, 1 team
sports hall, 6 exercise centers for individual sports, locker rooms
and a multipurpose hall for stage arts where strong relation-
ships can be established among all. Moving colorful panels were
used on the façades so that the building can reflect its dierent
functions and dynamism while putting forth color and rhythm
that will attract the citizens. The objective was to ensure that
the citizens make maximum use of the building in both sportive
and socio-cultural sense.
